I played a bit more, so let's generously say 40 minutes should be enough. At first, they give 3 per item, but around 800 items? they start giving 2. I didn't know and went all the way down, but if you don't go all the way down and press 'descend' when the black line comes, you get a '꽝' (fail/miss). But you still get the same score. It's faster in a speed run to wait for the black line, intentionally hit '꽝', and the score is the same whether you succeed or hit '꽝'. Ads are skippable, so skip them. You'll experience a wave of ads. For the tournament, if you're just starting, do it when they give you even 1 extra coin. I'm tired, so I'll go for 1st place and then write the guide and quit. If I have time, I might even get 1st place in the tournament.
