I did a sparkle exchange with Forever Friend and I'm so bummed out. Should I raise them later to use? I still don't have enough Shield Energy.

If it was HP that dropped by 1 instead of defense, there's no performance difference from a 100 IV, so you could have maxed it out. That's a shame. You'll get a better one next time.
