I really hate customers who speak casually to me
Like, casual talk is actually fine??? For regular customers who are a bit older, I guess I'm like their granddaughter, so when they speak casually while we're just chatting, it's like, 'Hmm, I see~' and I don't think much of it. But when customers speak casually in a commanding tone like: 'Give me that.' 'How much is it?' 'Don't you have anything else?' All I can think is, 'What the heck, do I know you???' Ugh, I can't just sprinkle salt and chase them away...

Wow... I totally get it. I don't mind if people talk casually, but when they throw money at you and just say 'calculate' or order you around like 'give me this, give me that,' I really wonder what's wrong with them. I never met customers like this when I worked other part-time jobs, but ever since I started working at the cafe, I've been encountering a lot of them...

In those situations, try unleashing your 'angelic smile' attack. Even if someone's being a total jerk, if you keep responding with a friendly smile, they'll get awkward and usually stop using informal language. As a guy, I tried this myself, and it was surprisingly effective. Also, weirdly enough, when a few people started changing their tone, the frequency of informal language from others noticeably decreased. Keep your chin up and don't let rude remarks defeat you!
