10. Correct vs. Adjust
1. '맞히다' (machida) means to correctly figure out the answer to a problem. It can also be used to indicate making something fit or touch a target. Ex) I got the answer to this problem right, hit the target with a ball. 2. '맞추다' (machuda) means to compare different things, adjust something to fit, or make things align. Ex) set the clock, assemble a puzzle, match the rhythm, make eye contact, agree on an opinion. 3. '맞히다' is used when figuring out an answer, and '맞추다' is used when aligning or adjusting things. Ex) I got the answer right (figured out the answer), I checked the answers with my friend (aligned the answers). 4. Conclusion Use '맞히다' when figuring out the answer, and '맞추다' when making things fit, comparing, or adjusting. Ex) Get the answer right ('machida'), set the clock ('machuda').
