A Ship Vanished Without a Trace at Sea
In 1872, the Mary Celeste was found adrift in the Atlantic Ocean. The ship itself was floating perfectly fine. However, the captain and crew were nowhere to be found on board. There was still food and water left, and most of the cargo was intact. One lifeboat was missing, but it was never determined why the people abandoned the ship. There were signs that suggested a hasty departure, but no conclusive evidence was found. Numerous theories have emerged since then, but the exact cause of the disappearance remains unknown to this day. It was a case where only the people vanished, leaving a perfectly good ship behind on the sea.
