Why 010?
Why do South Korean phone numbers usually start with 010? Couldn't they also start with 167 or 289?

If company-specific numbers were different, you could tell which carrier someone used by their prefix, and a mentality of 'Everyone around me uses 00 carrier? Should I just switch too?' could arise, leading to people flocking to one carrier. That's why a bill was proposed to unify all numbers to 010! There was a lot of backlash initially. Even people who liked their original numbers had to change them to 010-XXXX-XXXX.
