[Review] Tenhou Mahjong (Demonic Mahjong)

Love mahjong and games like Balatro? Then you absolutely have to play this. The gameplay proceeds similarly to Slay the Spire, where you acquire offerings, spirits, and relics to pull off incredibly broken combos like in Balatro. While Steam doesn't offer an official Korean patch, a user-made Korean patch is available, so you can fully enjoy it on Steam. There's also a free DLC, and many of these DLC characters use poker rules, leading to a magical transformation from mahjong to poker at times. It features a 'Ascension' system like Slay the Spire. Starting from Ascension level 2, bosses lose their score caps, allowing you to rack up points with every successful hand, increasing the difficulty. Ascension 8 is particularly brutal, as you only have one life, and dying means instant game over. (However, you can increase your starting lives through upgrades) It includes not only Riichi Mahjong yakus but also many local yakus. Each character has unique traits, and by building synergies around them, you can ascend with ease.
