What do you all think?
When making plans with friends or acquaintances, do you prefer people who arrive a bit early vs. those who arrive right on time? Which do you think is better? Personally, I tend to arrive a little early for appointments. I like to give myself some buffer time in case of traffic or unexpected issues. However, I have a friend who is always a bit late when we make plans. Sometimes it's just 5 minutes, and other times it can be 10-20 minutes. At first, I didn't mind, but it's become a recurring thing, and it starts to bother me when I'm the one waiting. So, it got me wondering. How many minutes late is acceptable for an appointment? Some people might say 5 minutes is understandable, while others might say you need to give a heads-up if you're going to be more than 10 minutes late. I feel like everyone has different standards. How late are you willing to let a friend be before you start getting annoyed?

I totally get how MooMoo feels about being punctual. I get anxious even after 5 minutes, and if it goes over 10, I'm really frustrated. It's so disappointing when there's no prior contact!

If there were unavoidable circumstances and you told me beforehand, I think any amount of delay would be fine! But if you were just dawdling and ended up being late... honestly, even 5 minutes doesn't feel good 😅 I always arrive early for appointments too!!

I think up to 20 minutes is okay 😂 Things might come up, or traffic could be bad 😂 Before, I'd be calling frantically if they were even 5 minutes late 😂😂 As more friends get married and have kids, sometimes kids get sick, so I've learned to be understanding...😂😂😂 Still, I really appreciate friends who give a heads-up beforehand though 😍😍

It really depends on the situation and the friend, but if we're not in a rush to get somewhere or don't have a reservation, I'm usually okay with them being 20 to 30 minutes late. I wonder if it's because I've gotten used to their constant lateness... But honestly, if they tell me they're going to be late in advance, I get way less annoyed.

I also arrive 5, no, 10, 15 minutes early. It was like that in the past, it's like that now, and it will be like that in the future... But not just for appointments, I think I've always gone early for school or cram school too. And if I think I'll be even a minute late, I contact them or at least send a KakaoTalk message. If my time is precious, then others' time is precious too, and time is a gift that's given equally to everyone, isn't it? If it's raining or snowing, I leave 10 minutes earlier than usual because the roads might be congested. Since people aren't all like me, I've waited 30 minutes or even an hour before. Nowadays, this happens a lot on 'Danggeun' (a local used goods trading app), like no-shows. If it's someone I know, I might understand waiting 20-30 minutes the first time. But if it's a habit, I'll say something 😅

Isn't it polite to arrive as early as possible?

It's okay to be late as long as you let me know. You never know what might happen even if you leave early. If you just tell me you'll be a few minutes late, that's enough, but it's annoying if you're late without saying anything.

People who are late are always late ㅡㅡ If I think I'll be late, I usually contact them in advance. I can understand being late occasionally, but being habitually late is truly incomprehensible! I don't want to meet them 😬

It's common courtesy to arrive on time, if not early. If it's a meeting of 4 people, being 10 minutes late wastes a total of 30 minutes for everyone else...

Being late once or twice is understandable, but being late every single time is just not acceptable.. It seems like the best policy is to just not make plans with friends like that~ 🤣🤣 I saw something somewhere the other day that suggested telling friends who are always late an earlier meeting time, and they might actually show up on time~ 🤣🤣

It's better to come a bit early. If you arrive right on time, it feels a bit awkward... I can wait about 5 minutes, but if it's over 10, I'd get annoyed lol

But if there's a reason and you let me know beforehand, it's okay to be a little late!! I'll be there about 5 minutes early lol

I usually arrive at least 5 minutes early for appointments, and if the other person contacts me beforehand to let me know they'll be late due to some reason, I can understand delays of 30 minutes or more. However, if it's not just occasionally but every single time they're that late, I think there's a problem.

I arrive at least 20 minutes before the appointment time lol. But if a friend who's running late tells me in advance they'll be 1-20 minutes late, I can wait.
