1 Month of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: My Experience
First off, unlike the first day, the warm-up exercises aren't nearly as difficult anymore. They used to make us do complicated and unfamiliar things like shuttle runs, forward rolls, backward rolls, and crawling, which was tough on day one, but I got used to it within a few days. Sometimes they throw in some really intense exercises as a warm-up, but other than those, it's been fine. Of course, I still get confused when they teach the actual Jiu-Jitsu techniques. This is probably because there are many advanced practitioners, so they end up teaching difficult techniques. (Occasionally, they'll call over only the beginners and have another instructor teach easier techniques.) After learning a few techniques, we move on to sparring. Unlike day one, when I barely knew any techniques and had no idea how to even start, after a month, I can now pull out the techniques I know and have actual sparring sessions. However, that's only when I'm sparring with people at a similar level. When I face someone skilled, I pretty much get completely shut down. Sometimes, when I spar with older practitioners, if I'm getting pushed around, they'll offer advice like, 'You should do this in this situation.' So yeah, that's about it.

Do you think you'll be able to take someone down once you learn?
