(Hot Issue) South Korea's Education System Collapses After Imitating Others
Finland's education system, unlike Korea's intense approach, focuses on learning through play and has achieved world-class status, leading many countries to adopt it. However, this educational model had its flaws. While it might be superior to Korea's system for those with a strong foundation, it proves counterproductive for those without one. Consequently, all the countries that followed suit have since abolished it. Yet, South Korea, instead of abandoning this approach, is pushing forward with it. Soon, 'innovative schools' are set to eliminate elementary school exams altogether in the name of creativity. Furthermore, this has led to the introduction of performance assessments and the high school credit system, imposing a harsh educational burden rather than fostering creativity for many students. Ultimately, South Korea's education system is failing after blindly imitating others. What are your thoughts on the Ministry of Education continuing to push for these policies?

Creativity without a solid foundation is like building a castle on sand. I'm worried about the burden educational reforms without practical alternatives will place on students.

If I remember correctly, I think I also went to an innovation school for a few years. There wasn't anything special, but the facilities were pretty good.

I don't think it's bad. I hope they decide on a policy that can be sustained rather than one that keeps changing, and stick with it. The biggest downside, I think, is that it encourages private education.

Elementary school exams probably don't exist anymore, right? Middle school also used to not have exams until the first grade, but they seem to be making a comeback...

Something really needs to change. Back in the day, there were a lot of students, so it was like 'those who want to study, study' all in one place, but I wish the helicopter parents would chill out a bit.
