You know what the most perfect plan is? No plan. Because life never goes according to plan. This is a poignant line delivered by Ki-taek (Song Kang-ho) to his son Ki-woo, as they lie in a gymnasium shelter during a torrential downpour. The Kim family's meticulously crafted plans for upward mobility, including their infiltration into the wealthy Park family's mansion, are shattered in an instant by unforeseen events and the sudden rain. In despair, when asked by his son about future plans, Ki-taek replies that the only way to avoid failure is to not make any plans at all. It's a deeply resonant line that captures the despair of the lower class, powerless against the unpredictability of reality and the solid wall of social hierarchy.
