The Pain of Cash

On September 14, 1867, Karl Marx's "Das Kapital," Volume 1, was published. He was someone who persistently delved into how goods, labor, prices, and value intertwine in capitalism. Money affects our minds in various ways. Even for the same amount, the feeling differs when you take out bills from your wallet, swipe a card, or press a button on your phone screen. In fact, MIT researchers conducted an interesting experiment. They auctioned basketball game tickets, with half the participants bidding only with cash and the other half only with credit cards. They were completely identical tickets. As a result, those who bid with credit cards offered an average of 83% higher amounts than cash bidders. It was the same item, just the payment method changed to a card. In consumer psychology, this is called the "Pain of Paying." Source: Psychology Cat

Hmm... the ease of payment dulls the senses. It's time to be wary of the invisible shackles hidden behind values replaced by numbers.
