Like It's Brand New

A small comfort for the old, starting anew as if it were new. Hiding the scars and rough edges, trying to smile again as if it were new, a pathetic and desperate smile. It's okay to say you're hurting if you're hurting, sad if you're sad, struggling if you're struggling. It's okay to be honest. It's okay not to try to package it as if it were new, when everyone can already see it's old. I just hope that the road ahead will be uneventful, and that you'll have times where you can just say, "That was how it was back then."
