8 Foods Whose Origins Differ From Their Names
There are foods that, just by hearing their names, you'd naturally assume they originated in that country, but surprisingly, their actual birthplaces are completely different! Among them, Neapolitan spaghetti really caught my eye. I naturally thought it originated in Naples, Italy, due to its name, but I was surprised to learn it was actually created in Japan. Its unique sweet and sour taste, based on ketchup, is also quite appealing. I usually enjoy pasta, so I've had this dish many times, and it's fascinating to discover such a hidden background story. It seems I shouldn't judge a food's origin solely by its name. When I think about it, there are probably quite a few foods we enjoy regularly that actually started in entirely different countries. Learning about the reasons behind their names and how they were created could reveal many interesting stories about food. Next time I eat Neapolitan, I'll probably think of the story about its Japanese origin first. Among the 8 foods, which fact surprised you the most? So interesting!!
