Horror Flash Fiction | Inside the Mirror
While washing her face in the bathroom, Shen Li noticed her reflection in the mirror moved half a beat slower than she did. She looked up, and the her in the mirror looked up too. She tilted her head, and the her in the mirror tilted hers. Normal. But when she reached out to turn off the faucet, the hand in the mirror paused for a second before catching up. Shen Li dismissed it as her imagination, dried her face, and left the bathroom. After that day, she started paying attention. When she dressed, the reflection would button up its clothes before looking at her. When she combed her hair, the hand in the mirror would comb it one extra time before putting it down. When she ate, the reflection was already chewing while she had just put the food in her mouth. The her in the mirror was always one step ahead. One morning, Shen Li stood in front of the mirror, but her reflection didn't appear. She froze and reached out to touch the mirror surface. The reflection was empty, showing only the bathroom background. The next second, the image in the mirror moved. She saw herself walking in from the bathroom doorway, standing in front of the mirror, doing the exact same actions as her. But the reflection's lips slowly curved upwards. Shen Li tried to step back but found her body wouldn't move. The 'herself' in the mirror reached out, passed through the mirror surface, and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm tired of being stuck in here," the reflection said. "Your turn to come in." Shen Li was pushed into the mirror. She hit the cold glass and felt like she was falling into water, surrounded by silver light. She pounded on the mirror, watching the 'herself' on the outside smile at her, slowly button up her clothes, comb her hair, turn, and walk out of the bathroom. From that day on, Shen Li stood inside the mirror every day, watching 'herself' live her life. Occasionally, when someone walked into the bathroom, she would pound on the mirror and shout with her mouth open.

Star Arc Short Notes: The Federation's Showcase #1
"Welcome to the Perseus—Orion Federation, my friend." In a lounge with a panoramic view window, a gentleman spread his arms to welcome his guests. The guests facing him were dressed and appeared differently: those in fine silks shivered, while the travel-worn ones looked around curiously. The raggedly dressed ones gazed with envy and awe at the scene before them: the reception hall, a blend of silver-gray outer walls and warm lighting, both cozy and cold. The gentleman scanned everyone and gestured invitingly towards the latter. "Then, please, let's move to the reception lounge inside." As soon as he finished speaking, two sleek guide robots glided silently forward to lead the way. After the guests entered the lounge, the gentleman adjusted his outer garment, maintaining his external composure. At the same time, a section of the corridor wall silently rose, revealing a fully armed soldier with a faint smell of gunpowder; fresh scorch marks still adorned the edges of his armor. The soldier glanced at the closed lounge door. "Quite the setup. How many did you lure onto your 'pirate ship' this time?" The gentleman took out a tablet from his coat, gesturing at the contents within. "How many did you bring onto your 'pirate ship' this time?" the soldier said, looking towards the end of the corridor, turning to the gentleman behind him with a mocking tone. The gentleman straightened his collar, as if he hadn't heard the soldier's taunt. "Hmph." Seeing he wouldn't get the response he wanted, the soldier pouted and turned to leave. "To call it a pirate ship, compared to the individual hells of Star Arc, what are the Federation's rules and regulations?"

After Transmigration, I Became a God by Plundering --- Chapter 12: The Tiers of Combat Skills (3)
Therefore, the country has laws strictly prohibiting the disclosure of basic Qi-regulating knowledge and its bestowal upon children under 12 years of age. Of course, there are those who violate these laws, but it falls under the category of 'the people don't complain, the officials don't investigate.' After all, consuming the lifespan of one's own descendants is a burden they must bear themselves." Wen Yue's statement reminded me of the many ancient noble families in my past life who trained assassins. Especially in this chaotic world, there's no shortage of raw materials. Wen Yue's words clearly had a hidden meaning. "Now, follow me." With that, Wen Yue got up and walked away without waiting to see if we were following. I quickly pulled up Di Bi, whose eyes had glazed over in dizziness. This fatty has always been like this; he gets dizzy just listening to lectures, which is probably why he always came in last on every test. Then, like dragging cargo, I grabbed him by the back of his collar and dragged him along. There's no other way. According to this fatty, whatever the black sphere swallows is converted into energy and stored as fat in his body. So, every time he uses his talent burst, it's equivalent to a full-body liposuction. However, once he reaches a certain level of obesity, it doesn't increase anymore. So asking me to support him and keep up with Wen Yue? Forgive me, but I truly cannot. "This should do," Wen Yue casually found an empty classroom, opened the door, and beckoned us in. After confirming all three of us were inside, he closed and locked the door. "The first time practicing the basic Qi-regulating method requires absolute silence. So, from now on, you three should distance yourselves from each other to avoid disturbing others."

After Transmigrating, I Became a God by Plundering --- Chapter 12: The Tiers of Combat Skills (2)
Tier 1: Initial Glimpse Tier 2: Skillful Practice Tier 3: So-so Tier 4: Entering the Hall Tier 5: Broad Comprehension Tier 6: Peak Attainment Tier 7: Supernatural Tier 8: Grandmaster Tier 9: Reaching the Apex "There are a total of nine tiers. With each breakthrough, you'll feel a distinct sensation. As for you all who are just starting to cultivate, you haven't even reached the first tier." "Additionally, I will now teach you a basic energy circulation method. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to directly absorb spiritual energy from the outside world, instead of relying solely on food intake." "Teacher, why haven't we ever heard of this basic energy circulation method before? Wouldn't learning it earlier allow us to improve our abilities better and faster?" Hou Taotao asked, seemingly obediently. If one didn't know about her severely unbalanced talents, she might appear as harmless as a kitten. "That's an excellent question. Firstly, experiments have proven that the human body is in a rapid growth phase before the age of 12. Absorbing too much spiritual energy too quickly before then can lead to accelerated growth and a shortened lifespan. After the age of 12, once your talent awakens, the absorbed spiritual energy becomes nourishment for cultivating that talent. You must understand that talents can also grow. Although rare, there are recorded cases of talent growth and evolution. Spiritual energy isn't the sole condition, but it is a fundamental requirement. And precisely because of the existence of talent, rapidly absorbing large amounts of spiritual energy afterward poses no harm to your still-developing bodies."

Original Mystery Novel: 《ℬ𝓁𝒾𝓏𝓏𝒶𝓇𝒹 ℳ𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓇》 EP55
He didn't respond to the name, but he extended his hand, turning his left wrist over. In the light, there was a very faint, almost vanished old scar on his skin—identical to the mark on the little boy's wrist in the photograph. "I've been waiting for you," Old Zhou said, his voice finally breaking. "Waiting for you to remember. Waiting for you to make your own decision. Because this door—I can't close it." "You want me to close it?" Old Zhou looked up. In the firelight, his eyes held something Chen Mo had never seen before, something too fragile for a man who had endured sixteen years of solitary struggle. "I don't know," he said, his voice almost drowned out by the crackling fire. "I only know that if you don't close it, what's in that room will continue to consume the next person. It could be you, it could be Xu Ziqian, it could be anyone in this house." "What's in there?" Old Zhou was silent for a long time. "Go see for yourself," he said. "You have the key. You're more qualified than I am. Because during that ritual—they chose you. I stayed behind, just to take your place. You were the one who was supposed to go in." Chen Mo gripped the key tightly. "Alright," he said. He turned and walked down the stairs, this time, alone. --- Chapter Eight: Behind the Door He walked past the wine cellar, through the passage, and pushed open the waist-high wooden door. He didn't bring a candle this time, but a lamp was lit in the room—he didn't know who lit it, or when, but the lamp was on the corner of the table, dim (To be continued)

Original Mystery Novel: 《ℬ𝓁𝒾𝓏𝓏𝒶𝓇𝒹 ℳ𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓇》 EP54
"He's your brother, Chen Mo." Xu Ziqian said, his voice carrying emotion for the first time, a thin layer, like a long-suppressed ice surface beginning to crack. "Zhou Zhengguo is your biological brother. In that ritual, he chose to stay, and you were sent away. He spent eighteen years ensuring you would never return." "But he called me back now." "Because he's tired." Xu Ziqian said. "He's been cleansing for sixteen years, but some things can't be cleansed. He realized that door never truly closed. It's always been here, waiting for someone to return and either open it completely—or close it forever." Chen Mo looked down at the iron key in his hand. It felt slightly warm in his palm, as if alive. He walked out. Back through the corridor to the wine cellar, then up the stone steps to the main hall. The fire in the fireplace was still burning, but the atmosphere in the hall had changed. Shen Yuehua was sitting on the sofa crying, and Fang Guodong stood beside her, his hand stiffly hovering over her shoulder, unsure whether to place it there. Old Zhou stood by the fireplace, his back to everyone. He heard Chen Mo's footsteps and slowly turned around. The firelight cast eighteen years of shadows on his face. His eyes were red, but not the red of crying; it was something deeper, heavier. "You saw him." Old Zhou said, his voice hoarse. Chen Mo walked up to him and stopped. The distance between them was less than two steps. For the first time in eighteen years, they faced each other as their true selves. "Brother," Chen Mo said. Old Zhou's shoulders trembled. He didn't respond to the address, but he reached out (To be continued)

Original Mystery Novel: "B***ard Manor" EP53
"Zhang Zhenyu invited everyone, and your father invited everyone—Old Zhou was the middleman, right? He arranged it?" Xu Ziqian nodded. "My father was in charge of the venue, and Zhou Zhengguo was in charge of the list. He knew better than anyone who was still alive and who had come into contact with evidence from Fog Valley. He spent sixteen years clearing everything away, but there was one thing he couldn't get rid of." "What's that?" "You," Xu Ziqian said. "He couldn't erase you. Because when you were sent away, you didn't remember anything. He couldn't track someone who didn't know they had ever existed. Not until that negotiation three years ago—your name appeared in the news. That's when he realized there was another child from Fog Valley alive, alive and well." Chen Mo leaned against the wall. The papers on the wall rustled behind him, like hundreds of tiny voices whispering at once. "So this manor," he said, "this seminar, all the invitations, all the coincidences—" "Were designed by Zhou Zhengguo," Xu Ziqian said. "He spent three years gathering everyone who might have had contact with clues from Fog Valley. Zhang Zhenyu, Lin Jing, Shen Yuehua, Fang Guodong, my father... and you." "What does he want to do?" Xu Ziqian didn't answer. He took something else out of his pocket—an old pocket watch. When he opened the lid, a tiny photo was tucked inside. It showed two boys standing side by side. One had an 'S' scar on his left wrist; it was Xu Ziqian's older brother. The other... was Chen Mo. The two were smiling. The background was the old banyan tree in Fog Valley Village. "He's your brother..." (To be continued)
