Iridescent Pileus Cloud

Iridescent Pileus clouds, also commonly known as or nicknamed "seven-colored clouds," "auspicious seven-colored clouds," "rainbow clouds," or "celebratory clouds." ☁️ Pileus Clouds, the "Hat" of Cumulonimbus: Pileus clouds are an "accessory clouds." When cumulus clouds develop into "cumulonimbus (Cu con)," the updraft breaks through the "horizontal" flowing warm, moist air currents at high altitudes (as shown in the upper right of the image), causing condensation of small water droplets in that area. This condensation area forms like a "hat" covering the top of the cumulonimbus, hence the name "Pileus" cloud. ☁️ A Very Short-Lived Cloud: Since cumulonimbus clouds typically develop very rapidly, if a pileus cloud appears, it can be quickly covered by other cumulonimbus clouds, making it a very rare type of cloud. ☁️ Iridescence is Even Rarer: From a distance, a pileus cloud looks like a white hat (indicated by the arrow in the upper right of the image). However, when sunlight refracts through the small water droplets/ice crystals at a specific angle (e.g., from below and to the side), there's an extremely low chance of seeing an "Iridescent Pileus Cloud." This isn't photoshopped; it's a real natural phenomenon. ⚡ A Sign of Changing Weather: The presence of pileus clouds indicates vigorous development of cumulonimbus or cumulonimbus clouds below, signaling impending thunderstorms. Therefore, pileus clouds can be called "clouds that signal changing weather." Iridescent pileus clouds, resembling auspicious seven-colored clouds, are a truly rare sight. I feel like I've seen it before, but maybe not 🤔
