Extension from the previous two posts: Specific eligibility criteria for senior welfare payments in each county/city

In 2026, 'Senior Welfare Payments' across Taiwan will be gradually distributed from September to October. The specific eligibility criteria for each county and city are mainly based on age groups, duration of residency, and welfare status: 1. Basic Age Threshold: Generally, seniors need to be 65 years or older. For indigenous seniors, this is often relaxed to 55 years or older. 2. Strict Residency Requirements: Seniors must have established residency in the respective county/city before the specified deadline and maintain continuous residency until the day of the Double Ninth Festival (October 18th). For example, Taipei City requires residency for at least 3 months; Taichung City, Tainan City, and Taoyuan City require residency for at least 6 months. Hsinchu County requires continuous residency for 10 years for those who established residency after 2005 and has an income exclusion clause. 3. Payment Tiers: The amount increases with age, typically ranging from NT$1,000 to NT$2,500 for those aged 65 and above. Centenarians (those aged 100 and above) generally receive a bonus of NT$10,000 to NT$20,000. 4. Additional Benefits for Specific Status: For instance, Changhua County distinguishes between 'general households' and 'welfare households (low-income/low-middle-income)'. Seniors aged 80-89 who meet welfare criteria receive an additional NT$6,000. Payment methods are usually dual-track: 'bank transfer (requires prior registration)' and 'cash pickup via designated personnel or locations'. Taipei City also allows collection via EasyCard at MRT stations or convenience stores.
