The Beckoning in Xinhai Tunnel (A Local Taiwanese Legend) 1

Taxi driver Lao Zhang had been driving at night for over a decade. This particular night, at 3 AM, after dropping off his last passenger, he was heading home through Taipei's famous 'Xinhai Tunnel'. Just as he entered the tunnel, he saw a young woman in a white dress standing by the roadside, her hand slightly raised, hailing a cab. He'd heard many rumors about this tunnel, but she looked normal enough, and it was a girl alone late at night, so Lao Zhang slowed down and pulled over. The woman silently got into the car and sat in the back seat. Lao Zhang glanced at her in the rearview mirror and noticed her face was very pale, and she kept her head down without speaking. Lao Zhang asked, "Miss, where are you headed?" The woman replied in a very soft, ethereal voice, "Please go straight... just to the first traffic light after you exit the tunnel."
