🌿 Yilan Xinliao Waterfall Trail｜More Surprises the Deeper You Go

This time I visited the Xinliao Waterfall Trail in Dongshan, Yilan. I initially thought I'd see the stream right from the start, but as I walked in, there was hardly any water visible at first. I even thought, 'Will there actually be a waterfall? 😂'. Unexpectedly, as the trail gradually led deeper into the forest, the stream slowly began to appear, and the water became clearer and clearer. Following the gentle sound of flowing water, the environment increasingly felt like a deep forest 🌳. Xinliao Waterfall originally had two tiers, but due to occasional rockfalls in some sections, access is currently only open to the first tier. So, this time, I could only reach the first level! Although the journey was shorter, seeing the clear and spectacular flow of water cascading down the rock face at the first waterfall still made me feel it was very worthwhile! The entire trail is easy and flat, with abundant greenery and clean stream water along the way, making for a very comfortable walk! Especially as you go further in, the scenery becomes more beautiful, giving you a feeling of being slowly immersed in the forest~ Below the waterfall, there's a small path leading to the stream bank, and you can even walk along the stream to the front of the waterfall. The stream water is cool and crystal clear, perfect for friends and family to sit by the stream for a picnic and play in the water. However, be aware that there are many moss-covered rocks in the stream, so it's recommended to wear suitable water hiking shoes to avoid slipping and getting injured! This place is very suitable for self-driving tours, and parking is convenient. Just navigate to 'Xinliao Waterfall Trail'. There's a parking lot near the trail entrance. If you're taking public transport, you can take a train to Luodong Station and then take a taxi. If you're planning a trip to Yilan recently and want to absorb some forest phytoncides, Xinliao Waterfall is definitely worth adding to your itinerary! However, remember to check the opening status before you go and pay attention to rockfall and trail safety!
