This container is to be locked inside storage locker 047a within the Level 3 Biohazard Laboratory 047b. Description: SCP-047 is a heavily corroded and damaged gas cylinder made of an iron-[REDACTED] alloy. When exposed to open air, the cylinder itself will slowly evaporate, producing an uncatalogued mutagenic gas. The gas has no effect on eukaryotic organisms (such as humans), but deeply alters prokaryotic organisms, showing a particular preference for the natural microbes on and within human skin. In extremely rare instances, these mutations result in the creation of "superbugs" (designated SCP-047-1), naturally occurring commensal bacteria with enhanced survivability and thus a chance of pathogenicity.
