Passion and Resurrection

Passion and Resurrection Crucifixion: Jesus's words and popularity sparked jealousy among the conservative Jewish priests and nobles of the time, who criticized him for presumptuously calling himself the "Son of God." Ultimately, he was betrayed by his disciple Judas and sentenced to death by the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, being crucified. Resurrection and Redemption: Core Christian theology claims that Jesus was physically resurrected on the third day after his death, appeared to his disciples, and then ascended into heaven. Christians believe that Jesus's death was to atone for the sins of the world (atoning sacrifice), allowing those who believe in him to reconcile with God and obtain eternal life.
