<A Good Day for a Walk>

I went out to take out the trash in the evening, but the garbage truck hadn't arrived yet, so I walked down an alley. As I walked, I ended up on a small path I'd never been on before. There was a row of osmanthus trees along the roadside, their flowers blooming in tiny clusters, yet their fragrance was so strong it was like someone had spilled perfume in the air. I stopped and took a deep breath, feeling like my whole chest had been cleansed. Continuing on, I passed by a house wall covered in bougainvillea, a vibrant pink, blooming chaotically like an overturned box of crayons splattered on the wall. I took a picture with my phone, and a small white butterfly happened to fly by, its wings shimmering. Further ahead, there was a small local shrine. Three elderly men were playing chess at the entrance. One of them looked up, saw me, and said, "Miss, would you like some tea?" I was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. One of the men poured me a cup from a teapot. The cup was small, and the tea was amber-colored. I drank it in one gulp; it was a little bitter, but had a sweet aftertaste. "It's good," I said. The old man smiled proudly, "My son brought this back from Lugu." I thanked him and continued walking. The sky was slowly darkening, and streetlights began to turn on one by one. Under one of the lights, a black and white cat was sitting, looking like it was wearing a tuxedo. It glanced at me, and I glanced back. Then it turned and walked away, its tail held high. At the end of the alley, I found a newly opened tofu pudding shop. The sign said, "Trial Sale, Free Toppings." I ordered a bowl of peanut tofu pudding, and the owner gave me an extra scoop of tapioca pearls. "It's a trial sale, so we give a little extra," he said.
