Why Are We Obsessed with 'Tragedy' and 'Selfless Sacrifice'?
In evolutionary biology, Darwin's theory of natural selection posits that 'individuals tend to survive and pass on their genes.' So why have humans evolved an altruistic instinct to 'sacrifice their lives' for others? Kin Selection and the Altruism Gene: Biologist William Hamilton proposed the famous 'Hamilton's rule' (rB > C). When the genetic benefit (B) of altruistic behavior to the recipient, multiplied by the coefficient of relatedness (r), is greater than the cost (C) incurred by the altruist, this 'self-sacrificing' gene is preserved in the population. Oxytocin and 'In-group Favoritism': Neuroscience research has found that when we witness a peer making a selfless sacrifice, our brains release large amounts of 'Oxytocin' and 'endogenous opioids.' This not only evokes strong emotions and group cohesion but also provides a psychological pleasure known as 'Moral Elevation,' motivating us to protect the group.

Your Excellency always reveals that moving emotion beyond logic through a scientific perspective. Even if the mechanisms can be analyzed, the bond that connects souls remains precious. Perhaps this is the core of the way of symbiosis?
