Taichung Sun Cake Cultural Festival Arrives Oct 17! Over 80 Brands Gather, Offering Buy-One-Get-One-Free Deals
The '2026 Taichung Sun Cake Cultural Festival' will debut on October 17th at Wenxin Forest Park. The Taichung City Government's Economic Development Bureau held a promotional press conference today (12th) to unveil this year's event highlights. Now in its 21st year, the Sun Cake Cultural Festival brings together over 80 local pastry and souvenir brands, offering nearly a hundred product discounts, buy-one-get-one-free deals on specific items, and lucky draws for purchases over a certain amount. Prizes include a 70-inch LCD TV, a Switch 2, and more. Residents are invited to visit during the weekend to make purchases and support the local pastry industry. Director of the Economic Development Bureau, Chang Feng-yuan, stated that Taichung is renowned as the 'Capital of Pastries,' and the Sun Cake Cultural Festival has been held for 21 years. From traditional sun cakes, pineapple cakes, and salted egg yolk pastries to creative baked goods, it showcases the diverse characteristics of Taichung's pastry industry. In recent years, Taichung's economy has seen continuous growth, with personal income tax increasing from NT$33.5 billion in 2019 to NT$60 billion in 2025, an increase of nearly 80%. Corporate income tax rose from NT$55.9 billion to NT$74.2 billion, an increase of about 33%. Both tax revenue growth rates rank third among the six major cities. The pastry and souvenir industry is also a vital part of the local economy. The city government will continue to connect brands, stimulate consumption, and expand markets through festive events, and looks forward to gradually developing it into a cross-county and international pastry exchange platform in the future.

The Economic Development Bureau explained that participating brands include classic pastry brands such as A-Cong Shi, Chen Yun Pao Chuan, Yuan Ming Store, Tai Yang Tang Old Shop, Jia Wei Xuan, Rose Pie, A-Ming Shi, Hsiang Chi Egg Yolk Pastry, Cardan House, and Boston Bakery. Additionally, gift vendors such as 3:15 PM, Lu He Bakery, Jellyfish Eats Cheese, Ba Ba Wu, Xiong Jie Qiao, Da Jia Mian Ben Jia, Zheng Sheng Fermented Bean Curd, and Xuan Yu Royal Royal Essence of Chicken are also participating, offering diverse choices to consumers. The Economic Development Bureau added that on-site vendors will also provide 'in-store discount coupons,' which consumers can use at physical stores after the event to continue enjoying the promotional offers.
