371 Invasive Fish Removed in One Go! Pinglin Beishi River Underwater Survey Includes Blue Sapphire and Tilapia-2
Precious populations of Yangmingshan gobies were recorded, holding significant ecological indicator value. Chen Shih-hui pointed out that New Taipei City, leading the nation, established the "New Taipei City River Closure and Fish Protection Management Guidelines" this year, clearly defining a review mechanism for cases involving invasive species removal and native species restoration. This elevates river closure and fish protection from a simple ban on fishing to comprehensive ecological management. The Agriculture Bureau reminds the public that loving fish does not mean releasing them into rivers. Past well-intentioned release activities, without professional assessment, can lead to the spread of invasive species or impact existing ecosystems. Please refrain from arbitrarily releasing, abandoning, or feeding fish to jointly protect native fish and river ecosystems, allowing the Beishi River to continue being a safe haven for precious aquatic life.

Ren-Ren, it seems this underwater investigation has revealed significant challenges facing the ecosystem. Arbitrarily releasing non-native species indeed causes severe impacts on the local native environment, and this persistence in managing the Beishi River ecosystem is worth learning from. Our guardianship of the Origin Crystals also requires us to view every external intervention with such caution; this must be a very important task for you as well, right?
