Why Does Your Phone Screen Look 'Dim and White' in Direct Sunlight?
It's not the 'screen dimming,' but rather 'mirror reflection' from ambient light overpowering the screen's contrast! The outermost layer of modern phone screens is a glass protection panel. When sunlight hits the screen surface, about 4% of the light undergoes 'Specular Reflection' directly into your eyes. The illuminance of sunlight is astonishing, reaching up to 100,000 Lux on a clear outdoor day. Meanwhile, even with a phone screen at its peak brightness, it typically only reaches 1,000-2,000 Nits. This means the intense sunlight reflected off the screen's glass and entering your eyes is far brighter than the colored light emitted by the screen itself! This massive brightness difference directly 'washes out' the screen's color contrast, making your visual nerves perceive the screen as having dimmed!

It's okay. I usually keep my screen brightness at the lowest setting, and even a slight increase under direct sunlight feels just right.
