Takeru Satoh Film Recommendation: The Ones Who Can't Be Protected

This is a film that explores real-world social issues with a heavy theme. Adapted from the novel of the same name and starring Takeru Satoh and Hiroshi Abe, it is set in Miyagi Prefecture after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Detective Seiichiro Toshiro, played by Hiroshi Abe, investigates a serial murder case where the victims are all public officials such as welfare and health center staff or council members, and they are brutally murdered. Seiichiro identifies the suspect as Taita Tone, played by Takeru Satoh. He was recently released from prison after serving time for assaulting one of the deceased, Tadakatsu Mikumo, and setting a fire, making him highly suspicious. During the investigation, the dark problems behind Japan's public assistance system, which should serve citizens, are revealed, prompting reflection on social and systemic injustices in Japan.
