🐦 Today's Bird｜Scarlet Minivet

The Scarlet Minivet is a striking bird found in Taiwan's forests, primarily inhabiting low-altitude broadleaf forests. They often forage in groups among the treetops. Males have black heads and backs, gray cheeks and neck sides, with vibrant orange-red chests, bellies, and tails. Females replace the male's orange-red with yellow, making gender easily distinguishable. They mainly eat insects and frequently dart through branches with other birds to catch prey. When flying over the treetops, they resemble patches of red and yellow leaves drifting in the air. 🌿 Fun Fact Scarlet Minivets sometimes perch on trees in flocks, appearing from a distance like colorful leaves hanging from branches. They also build nests using materials like spider silk, lichens, and moss, often concealing them on branches where they blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment.
