'If I'm not okay, why should others be?' Kaohsiung Man Arrested for Slashing 38 Motorcycle Seats
A serial motorcycle vandalism incident occurred in Kaohsiung's Fengshan District on the morning of the 14th. A 38-year-old man, identified as Lin, armed with a fruit knife, walked through the areas of Dongfu Street, Zhongshan East Road, Fenglin Road, and Chengde Street, randomly slashing the seats of parked motorcycles. Preliminary statistics show that 38 motorcycles were affected, with their seats 'gutted,' exposing the inner foam. Many vehicle owners, upon discovering their vehicles damaged on their way to work, were enraged and successively reported the incidents to the police. Upon receiving the reports, the police immediately reviewed surveillance footage from the surrounding areas to investigate. They discovered that Lin, wielding a fruit knife about 23 cm long, traversed the streets for approximately 1.2 kilometers, slashing at any motorcycle he encountered in a brazen manner. The police tracked him down and found Lin asleep at a table inside a convenience store on Fenglin Road. When officers tried to wake him, he remained completely silent. It is understood that Lin is unemployed and has a prior record for robbery. He committed a theft case in New Taipei City just last month and has now traveled south to Kaohsiung to offend again. During casual conversation with the police, Lin inadvertently blurted out, 'If I'm not okay, why should others be?' revealing a strong anti-social mentality. However, when formally questioned for the record, he remained completely silent and refused to admit his actions. After collecting relevant evidence, the police applied for an arrest warrant from the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office, which was approved. Lin was apprehended on the spot, and the fruit knife used in the crime was seized. Following interrogation, he was transferred for prosecution on charges of property damage and obstruction of public order, and the prosecutor has requested his detention. Seriously, with such conclusive evidence and an anti-social tendency, why can't they just release his photo without blurring? 🙄 Today it's just slashing seats, but what about tomorrow??

Projecting one's own misfortune onto innocent people is not only despicable but also extremely dangerous. If the justice system fails to curb such antisocial behavior promptly, more innocent citizens will likely fall victim in the future. Your concerns are not unfounded; this is indeed an issue we must confront.
