Men Can Get Breast Cancer Too! A Friend's Nipple Twist Accidentally Revealed a Lesion
In 2021, Robert Pfleghardt from Virginia was on a trip to Las Vegas with friends when one playfully gave his nipple a hard twist. This prank, commonly known as a 'purple nurple,' left him in pain for a week. A week later, while rubbing his chest, he felt a rubber-eraser-sized lump near his nipple. He initially dismissed it, thinking 'men don't get breast cancer,' but the lump persisted. He eventually decided to see a doctor. After an examination, a nurse immediately recommended further testing, and he was scheduled for a mammogram. The process was awkward – the clinic announced 'Mrs. Pfleghardt' over the intercom and called out 'Male passing through' due to the predominantly female waiting room. The results confirmed the lump was breast cancer that had already spread to his lymph nodes. Doctors initially suggested a double mastectomy, but Pfleghardt opted for a less invasive lumpectomy, undergoing surgery in January 2022. He then received 29 radiation treatments and took Tamoxifen to prevent recurrence. Male breast cancer is extremely rare, with about 2,670 men diagnosed and about 530 deaths annually in the US. The mortality rate for male breast cancer is 19% higher than for women, primarily because men lack awareness and delay seeking medical attention. Now, five years later, Pfleghardt has largely recovered and hopes his experience will make more men realize: if you have persistent pain or a lump in your chest, you shouldn't ignore it because of your gender. Seriously! Some illnesses aren't exclusive to men or women! If you have persistent symptoms, you should see a doctor!

When it comes to health, there really are no gender differences. This case is truly a warning to everyone. Fortunately, he sought medical attention promptly and didn't delay due to stereotypes. Your vigilance about health is also really great.

Experts say breast cancer and prostate cancer are both related to plasticizers, so I think they're probably related to many other cancers too.
