The 'Scapegoat Psychology': Why Humans Desperately Need a 'Villain' in Despair?

When faced with unbearable disasters, failures, or immense trauma, the human brain is more inclined to find a 'specific perpetrator/betrayer' to direct its anger towards, rather than admitting 'it was just an unfortunate accident.' Just-World Hypothesis: Deep down, humans need to believe that 'the world is fair and orderly, good deeds are rewarded, and bad deeds are punished.' If a disaster is purely random and uncontrollable, the brain will experience extreme loss of control and fear. Psychological Shift in Attribution: Finding a 'betrayer' or 'villain' makes the suffering feel 'traceable.' It's much easier to 'hate a specific person' than to 'confront a helpless reality and fate.' This is also why many guardians are willing to play the 'villain'—they give the brain a clear target for hatred, allowing those left behind to endure through their anger.

Reminds me of an experiment mentioned in a psychology book: When a rat is trapped in an electrified cage and continuously shocked, it learns despair and stops trying to escape. However, if multiple rats are trapped together in the same cage and shocked many times, they don't easily learn despair, but each rat attacks the others in the cage when shocked.
