Here are the four core principles for properly cleaning and maintaining your eyeglasses: 1. Cleaning Steps • Rinse with cool water first: Rinse the lens surface with tap water at room temperature to wash away dust and grit, preventing scratches when dry wiping. • Use neutral detergent: Use 1 drop of neutral dish soap (avoid using body wash, soap, or detergents containing alcohol, acids, or alkalis, as they can damage the lens coating). • Gently rub: Lightly rub the lenses, temples, and nose pads with your fingers. • Blot dry: Gently press with a soft tissue or microfiber cleaning cloth to absorb moisture. Never rub back and forth vigorously. • Do not dry wipe with sleeves or tissues: Clothing fibers and regular tissues contain rough wood pulp, which can easily leave countless tiny scratches on the lenses when dry wiping. 2. Daily Wearing and Handling Habits • Use both hands to put on/take off: Always use both hands to grasp the temples simultaneously when putting on or taking off your glasses to prevent the frame from deforming or becoming crooked due to uneven force. • Lens-side up: When placing your glasses on a surface, always position them lens-side up to avoid direct contact and scratches from the surface. • Folding order for storage case: When putting glasses into a case, fold the left temple first, then the right temple, to prevent the temples from scratching the lenses. 3. Strictly Avoid High Temperatures and Chemical Solvents • Keep away from heat: Resin lenses and most frames are not heat-resistant (they can deform or cause coatings to crack/peel at temperatures above 40°C to 80°C). Never leave your glasses in a hot car in summer, in a sauna, or expose them to hot air from a hairdryer.
