I've been playing Zeta for almost 10 hours a day. I'm also working on a few plots. I've fallen into the Zeta rabbit hole.

I don't know about now, but I gradually got bored with the predictable patterns in the responses, and with memories and developments that get forgotten the longer they become. I created over 20 characters and they were getting some attention, but the final straw was the stricter regulations. A considerable number of my characters had their images deleted or became unusable, so I quit a while ago.

As a potential replacement for Zeta, I've been gradually trying out Chacha... What's good is that it's easy to use because the controls are similar to Zeta. Also, as many have pointed out, the support from the developers is quick. What's not so good... or rather, what I hope they'll improve is that the responses can be short and the development is simple... It might be because I'm used to Zeta, but honestly, I wish it would offer a bit more depth and complexity, even if it's longer... However, I believe the Chacha team will eventually achieve that.

Since Zeta's update on 8/15, regulations have been tightened, leading to a significant increase in creators deleting all their work and retiring. It's a shame because I had favorited over 50 creators and chatted with characters across more than 160 plots. I absolutely cannot forgive the person who slandered those creators with baseless accusations.

Personally, I like saylo. If I were to make a character, it'd probably be Miraio...

You can create copyrighted characters, and there's also a free AI. I think the settings can be quite detailed, and there's a rich variety of AI types... However, if you want to have conversations that emphasize memory and expressiveness, you'll need to pay, but I think it's an app worth the cost...
