Plant Series Enjoying Leaf Colors ① "Dracaena Purple Compacta"
I'll be introducing a series of plants with beautiful leaf colors (ΦωΦ)ニャー "Dracaena Purple Compacta" The one with green leaves below is "Peperomia Deppena". The leaf color is like a deep green, or perhaps a red... I love the coloring (*´艸`*) I got the Purple Compacta from Daiso for 100 yen. It's my second year having it. You might see plants at Daiso planted in small brown pots for 100 yen, but that 100-yen plant has grown quite large. I have it in a 4-inch pot. The spots where the leaves are losing color are probably spider mites... (We had a major spider mite outbreak at my house this summer (ノД`) Oops!) The lower leaves keep falling off, making the stem look like a trunk, but I buried them when I repotted them with Deppena! w It grows slowly and is easy to care for indoors. I hope to grow it into a nice, shapely plant while enjoying the mixed planting!☆

Hellebore
A bit out of season, but here's one of my favorite potted plants. It's a Hellebore. The pink one was bought at a nearby orchid exhibition, and the white (yellow-green) one was a gift from a neighbor. They stay outdoors year-round, in shade during the summer and in direct sun during the winter. They keep blooming abundantly, and in the end, I can put them in a vase or arrange them, enjoying them for a long period from winter to early summer.

The "Wriggly" Plant Series ① "Ferraria pauciflora (Japanese name: Ashura)"
Its Japanese name is "Ashura," which sounds kind of scary (ΦωΦ)nya~ It's covered in spines, but they don't hurt like a cactus when you touch them. I started growing it last year, but it grew so slowly that I worried if it was even alive? But this year it became active, and when I gave it fertilizer, it seemed happy and bloomed for me☆ It has star-shaped flowers, and they're kind of creepily cute, aren't they? (*゚∀゚) All the potted plants at my home are... Pot: Daiso Soil: Daiso Fertilizer: Daiso They're raised surrounded by Daiso products w The soil is expanded clay pebbles. It's the hydro-ball sold at Daiso. I mix it with Kanuma soil and zeolite. I tried growing it in regular soil for a while... but bugs kept appearing, so I completely switched the soil to expanded clay pebbles, and now I don't have bugs coming from the soil. Also, if you tip the pot over, it's not a huge disaster like with regular soil. Plus, since it's lighter than soil, the pots are naturally lighter too. However, it dries out easily and lacks nutrients, so plants that are weak to dryness or love fertilizer tend to wither or not grow well. I love my Daiso patrols ♡

Not a flower, but...
It's a Sansevieria, a foliage plant. When I repotted it, I thought I'd failed because it started to turn brown and wither, but a pup grew from the side and it's growing well. They say the sword-like leaf shape wards off evil, so I keep it by the window to prevent bad things from entering the house. I love the horizontal stripes.

Primulina Little Dragon
Little Dragon!? Where's the dragon part (ΦωΦ)ニャン? I liked the name, so I got this one. Its flower color is a beautiful light purple (with greenish-yellow inside), which I love☆ The leaves have fine hairs, and they feel nice to the touch (゚∀゚) This is my second one, too w The first one died from root rot after I failed to repot it post-purchase... (I tend to fail at repotting, so I have a complex about it.) But I really wanted one, so I got another. After I brought it home, its leaves and runners fell off one by one, but it somehow managed to recover enough to bloom(´∀`*) This dragon is tricky to handle. When the runners grow out, it's hard to find a place to put it. If you hang it because you don't have space, the soil dries out quickly. Its roots are short, so it gets root rot in deep pots. Maybe because of the hairs on its leaves, it seems to dislike getting its leaves wet. Such a fussy dragon_(┐「ε:)_ But when a difficult plant like this grows well, the joy is even greater(*´ω`*)♡

Astrophytum Caput-Medusae
My first post on this board is this little guy! ☆ Astrophytum Caput-Medusae A cactus with the nickname "Medusa's Head" (ΦωΦ) meow The one I got this year has bloomed for me ♪ Actually, it's my second one... I lost the first one to spider mites 。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。 I really wanted to grow one, so I got another, and it bloomed in my room (*´∀`*) It's a type of cactus, but apparently it doesn't like direct sunlight, so I'm growing it by a sunny window indoors. It has no spines on its stick-like leaves, and they feel rough to the touch. The flower buds were covered in something fluffy like cotton. I hope it blooms again ٩(♡ε♡)۶
