I contacted support about Playio's massive data usage increase
My data usage has recently increased to an unbelievable amount, so I contacted support. I suspect Playpick is the cause. I sent them a message with screenshots, asking if something weird was going on. I found out about Playpick on the 16th, watched some videos, and even uploaded one video myself on the 16th and another on the 17th. I only realized how insane my data usage was around noon on the 18th. After that, I tried to avoid accessing the Playpick page as much as possible, and my data usage gradually returned to normal. The support team replied, "We are currently urgently investigating the cause internally. We will fix it as soon as the cause is identified." They still don't know the cause. So, all I can say is this: If you're not on Wi-Fi, you might want to refrain from accessing the Playpick page or watching Playpick videos. You could burn through your data allowance in an instant. Be careful. Of course, since the support team is still investigating, it's possible it's not Playpick. But if that's the case, then what is this 200GB I used?

Thanks for the verification and warning report. I only glanced at it for a few seconds wondering what it was, but my Playo data usage this month has already surpassed last month's. It's not exactly the same game situation, but it's a bit fast.

Watching videos definitely consumes data! A rough estimate is about 3GB for watching one movie, which is about 2 hours of viewing time! That's like watching 6 to 7 movies a day on average! Since it's for game-based rewards, if you go through Playio, it might vary depending on the game. Ads within it also count towards your data usage on Playio! Is there anything specific you can think of that you've been doing?

It seems like Playpick is constantly in a live communication state with best-effort communication while it's open. Probably the reason for the explosive traffic is that the quality isn't degraded at the thumbnail stage and it's receiving raw data, and there seems to be no limit on the number of pre-loaded items, so it's likely loading even off-screen content. This is just a guess based on the communication behavior, though.
