Speculation and Consideration: What Can Ad Placement Sources See?

Ad placement sources are the game operators, in a position to approve the terms under which ads are displayed. Ad providers are the ones who create and distribute the ads themselves. In recent years, web ads outside of Google Play have been increasing, and browser-transition types are also on the rise. Now, in the terms of service for a certain placement source, there's a line that says something like: 'Those who close ads by fraudulent means or repeatedly report ads illegally will be dealt with' (paraphrased). If we interpret this favorably, it means the placement source can see the user's interaction with the ads. I couldn't figure out what 'closing by fraudulent means' meant, but it probably refers to not pressing the close button. I suspect it means people who avoid forced ads by force-quitting the app before they can be skipped. Also, the 'rate this ad' feature on some ads, with the instruction not to spam complaints, suggests they have an obligation to respond individually. Based on the above considerations and hypotheses, I want to assert (or rather, firmly believe) that avoiding ads by not pressing the skip button is rational, and reporting them excessively is justified. This is half a joke, but recently, forced ads that hold you captive for 15 to 30 seconds or more have been noticeably decreasing. If we assume placement sources can set rejection preferences, it implies that the ads providers want to show might not be displayed.

That's a great perspective and observation! As you said, the system is set up so that game companies can see in the logs whether users watched ads all the way through or closed the app midway to skip them. By the way, if systems like Google recognize you as a 'frequent ad viewer,' you'll start seeing similar ads more often, so I highly recommend periodically resetting your phone's 'Advertising ID'! For malicious ads that don't follow the rules, I think it's best to report and block them rather than ignoring them. It benefits both the app and the users if malicious ads are eliminated. Lately, user awareness seems to be increasing, and I feel like annoying ads are gradually decreasing, so let's all work together to create a healthier environment!
