Fuwirurin

Includes past event spoilers below I tend to save up event stories, and I recently finished reading 'Offering Flowers to Heaven.' It made me wonder about Fuwirurin, so I reread the 4th anniversary story. Fuwirurin's connection involves interacting with the twins and the North, and seeking revenge for his brother's death. Baltazar is also seeking revenge for being driven from his land by his fellow disciples, so I can somewhat understand his side of the story more... The twins tormented wizards, humans, and creatures for years, and when one of them disappeared and their own death was imminent, they were saved by their disciple. I thought, 'What is this…?' about their mindset of being so arrogant when the strong hold the power of life and death over the weak. However, not dying cleanly but surviving to await a chance for revenge is a common trait in the North and, in a way, a virtue. I think the difference in their nature is why Baltazar is so fixated on, admires, and hates Shylock. The West lightly regards life for the sake of their own aesthetics, while the North believes in survival of the fittest... I really think there was room for dialogue and reconciliation with Fuwirurin, who repeatedly let the wizards go. I wish he had survived and remained a friend to the Sage... I was captivated by a story from over two years ago about how such a playful, kind, beautiful, and strong child is no longer here.
