Mahjong's Malice (Self-Proclaimed)
I specialize in 3-player Mahjong, but lately, my win/loss streaks have been so extreme that I fell out of the Jade Room and am now on the verge of dropping to ☆2... First off, the initial hands are terrible... getting an 8-pair is standard, and even with nine unique tiles, they'll discard the wind tile... and wouldn't you know it, I never have the wind tile in my hand... When I do get a decent hand, the draws are awful... starting the hell of a ready hand... If I get a good starting hand and smoothly reach for a Riichi, I get chased and give up an Ippatsu! This chain of bad luck continues nonchalantly for about 10 games... Unless the opponent is someone who never defends, getting 1st place is nearly impossible, and even if they defend, I keep getting drawn out and end up 3rd... I call this the malice of Mahjong (the developers) (lol) But maybe I'm a bit of a masochist for not giving up and continuing (lol)

Ah... that happens in games other than Janpan too. It's like some force is at play, making it impossible to win. You'll reach within 1-2 turns, but no one wins and the round ends. But when you *can* win, your starting hand is so good you might be suspected of cheating, and you get consecutive wins.

I totally get this... After reaching the end game, I feel like I tend to lose consecutively when I choose 'continue'. Maybe it's just me, but after playing Mahjong Soul casually for years, I feel like there's some kind of meta like that. Conversely, I tend to win my first match after starting up ('ω') Were you playing in the Jade Room! You're strong! Strong like an M (lol)
