I don't usually rewatch anime I've seen once, but I absolutely love Anohana, so I watch it every summer and even make a pilgrimage to Chichibu City every year because I love it so much! The ending theme and insert song are sung by the voice actresses who play the heroines, covering ZONE's "secret base ~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~". The timing of the song in each episode is divine, and the lyrics are so closely linked to the anime's content that it's a masterpiece you can't watch without tears😭

The moment in the ending song when the falling flowers start rising again right as the chorus hits. It almost unconditionally makes me tear up reflexively. When it became a pachinko machine, I would get teary-eyed every time a reach led to a big win.

I love tear-jerker anime, so of course I love Anohana too!!! I can tear up just listening to the music, even without the visuals 😭 I think most people prefer these kinds of bittersweet or bad endings over happy endings…😢
