Caregiver = Anyone Can Do It? A Question

For a long time, there's been a tendency to think of caregivers as people who "anyone can be." Sure, maybe it's a job anyone *can* do. But... there's a difference between doing it sloppily and continuing, versus doing it carefully and continuing. In my 16 years, I've worked in various settings: special nursing homes → home care → day services → group homes. Even "caregiving" itself has different types, you know. I found group homes to be the best fit for me, and I've been at my current facility for 10 years now. Of course, there are all sorts of residents and staff. Honestly, there are days when I want to ask, "Is this a war??" But... the joy of being a caregiver comes in those moments when communication flows well. It's important to see them not as "Person A with dementia," but as "Person A, who happens to have developed dementia." Otherwise, caregiving can easily become a one-way street. Building a trusting relationship through mutual communication. That's just common sense for any professional, right? It's the same for people with dementia and those with other illnesses. Nobody wants to end up in these situations. Caregiving is communication. Trust is the most important thing.🌹

It's a job that only people who have cultivated rich and strong hearts and bodies can do, yet... Due to labor shortages, we end up hiring immature individuals without proper vetting, exploiting the seniors who have carried Japan's past, making them scapegoats for dissatisfaction, and mocking them. It's truly painful to create an environment where such fools emerge, treating longevity as if it were an evil. Of course! I know there are people like you, my dear sister, who persevere with sincerity! I can only imagine, but everyone who has accumulated immense effort and hardship is, to me, the precious future itself.

Caregiving is often advertised as a simple, light job that anyone can do... Oh my. That's why it's sometimes sarcastically called a 'light' job (when dealing with lives)! It seems you've had quite a tough time too, but I'm sure a rewarding day will come! Did you hear that, Sebas? Tell the person who said 'anyone can do it' how difficult it is to help someone who won't cooperate get up or lie down!
