It's not a word I particularly like. I feel like too many people use it as a get-out-of-jail-free card. I only use it when it's to smooth over a situation without ruining the mood, saying 'Well! It's diversity, right?'(^^)

I work in a customer-facing business. We've embraced 'diversity' haven't we... Hair color is now free, piercings, even shoe colors are allowed. It feels like it's being conveniently used as an excuse. I don't think 'anything goes' though 😓

I believe it's important who uses the word 'diversity.' To put it extremely, I think 'diversity should be a word for minorities.' You've probably all heard conversations like, 'It's the era of diversity now~' (I've said it myself too), and it's usually the majority speaking. And behind the phrase 'It's the era of diversity now~,' there's often a feeling of looking down on minorities, like 'It's the way society is moving, so we have to consider minorities,' or 'Well, some people are like that.' If this were coming from a minority, I wouldn't feel that way. I'd feel they are strong-willed individuals trying to protect their place in a socially disadvantaged situation. Obviously, the majority can never fully understand the situation or feelings of the minority. In that context, I wonder if the majority's pronouncements on 'diversity' are truly correct, or if they are becoming words that further push minorities to the margins of society.

The post I saw on social media, 'Diversity is a world where everyone is a little uncomfortable,' has been stuck in my head. It's like a world where we accept various people, and instead of minorities and others experiencing extreme discomfort or hardship, those who dislike it are exposed to it more often and learn to tolerate it, even if they're not comfortable with it. Of course, it's not that minorities are bad because some people dislike them... there are also people in the majority who dislike it. It's like reducing the significant discomfort of certain groups so that everyone is slightly uncomfortable... It's difficult to put my thoughts into words. I'm not sure if I'm expressing myself well.
