What is this ad...

I've blurred it out, but the model number and such were correct. Does this mean the ad is peeking into my phone's contents? Is that even possible?😳 I want to believe it was just a random coincidence... but it's too scary...😱

It seems like you can get CPU model numbers and such even without special permissions. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glgjing.marvel This app lets you see various things, and I checked, but I hadn't granted any special permissions.

It's scary when you match with someone from an ad, right? If I see them again, I'll check too.

Rather than being spied on, it seems that browsers like Chrome send information such as the OS and browser type/version during communication with websites, which can sometimes allow them to infer the device model.

It seems pretty dangerous for information to leak this much to the advertiser lol Anyone would find the ads suspicious after something like this happens.

Even though it's an ad, it's not just a simple video playback. There are things like being able to play games or do surveys. The dangerous part about these kinds of ads is when they try to instill a sense of urgency and trick you into installing suspicious apps under the guise of solving a problem. If you fall for it and install, you're probably done for.

Long time no see! All devices are fake low storage warnings! Ads that try to make you install unnecessary apps with fake warnings like these are malicious, TOS-violating ads. The most effective way to deal with them is to report them as soon as you find them through the app store or the ad's reporting function (like the 'i' or 'x' icon on the edge of the screen). But it's understandable to mistakenly think your information was stolen! Thanks for the warning!
