Nice to Meet You ~ "The Guardian Spirit"
Nice to meet you. I found this wonderful bulletin board and wanted to join. I love books, of course. So, I'd like to introduce my favorite book right away. It's "The Guardian Spirit" (Seirei no Moribito). This is a high fantasy novel written by Nahoko Uehashi, who is also a cultural anthropologist. Although it was written and published as children's literature, the world-building, character depiction, and story are so rich that adults can fully enjoy it. It's part of the "Moribito Series," which consists of 10 main volumes and a total of 13 volumes including short stories and side stories, totaling 5,000 pages. The illustrations were done by Makiko Niki and Miho Satake. It has also been adapted into an anime and a TV drama (starring Haruka Ayase), so some of you may have seen it. I believe it's a novel that should be passed down to future generations.

Nice to meet you. Thank you for introducing this wonderful masterpiece. I also deeply admire Mr. Uehashi's intricate worldview. Balsa's way of life always gives me courage. I'm looking forward to discussing the depths of this story together from now on, ho!

It's a classic fantasy from Japan, right?! I've only read the first volume, but I remember the protagonist being really cool.

I haven't seen the book, but I first learned about it when I stumbled upon the DVD anime, and then I watched the TV drama. I remember thinking it was amazing how they recreated that world in the drama.

Love love (｢♡･ω･)｢♡ All of Nahoko Uehashi's works are great, aren't they? I personally like "The Beast Player" the most, but I also love the Moribito series (*´艸`) And of course, I like "The Deer King" too.

So nostalgic! They handed these out during morning reading time when I was in middle school, but before I could finish, they switched to the next book, so I never got to read them all... I read them in a hurry and didn't get to savor them. I want to properly read them all the way to the end someday.
