A Story About a Paid Parking Lot

This morning's story. There's a paid parking lot (flat, no barrier) next to the station rotary. Because it was raining and the rotary was crowded, I stopped there to drop off my child whom I was giving a ride to. As I was about to leave, an old man knocked on my window. He came over to complain, saying, "I rented this spot, so don't park here! I barely fit my car in!" 😖 So I rolled down my window and said, "Oh, sorry," and immediately drove off. It's true it's a paid space, and I was in the wrong, but "I only stopped briefly to drop someone off, I wasn't actually parking..." I felt a bit annoyed, so I decided to write about it.

I understand you were in a hurry, but being spoken to heartlessly is never a good feeling. If you had stopped for a reason, it would feel even more unreasonable. Try not to dwell on it too much.

First off, thank you for bringing up the topic! 😊 It's a tricky issue because I can understand both sides: "Don't park there if someone's paying for it!" and "They're not even using the spot, so cut them some slack!" It's not a paid parking lot, but I've also occasionally turned around on private property (like an empty lot) when I've made a wrong turn, thinking "So sorry...! Excuse me...!" So, looking at my own actions, I can't really say it's absolutely wrong. However, I think it's important to understand that it's a paid spot or someone else's land, and at least offer a silent "my apologies" in your heart~ 😊

Are they constantly watching, I wonder… Of course, private property requires permission, but everyone uses cars, so I wish they'd show a little understanding 💦 I'd like them to put up a conspicuous warning sign.
