How to Use Sweets

What's scary isn't the glucose spike itself, but its side effects. I'll spare you the details, but if you continue a diet (including eating habits) that causes your blood sugar to spike for a long time, you'll damage your blood vessels, and eventually, there's a high chance they'll 'snap'. Eat a low-carb meal packed with vegetables... That's sound advice. It's sound advice, but as is often the case in life, it's not always feasible... Like when you finish a night shift or a 24-hour duty, finally thinking you can rest, only to be called in for a day shift due to understaffing, or even if you get the day off, the night shifts keep coming 😱. When you're utterly exhausted, feeling unwell, and wobbly, who has the energy to select vegetables and meat, chop ingredients with a knife...?! Right? You're wiped out, barely standing, and can't even eat much. In those situations, I think it's okay to take advantage of sweets for a quick fix. For example, a fruit tart can surprisingly provide protein, carbs, fats, and vitamins in a small portion. However, please be very careful about how you eat them!! Eating sweets on an empty stomach right away is a no-go! Whether it's tea or water, take a sip first. Take a moment to relax, then eat slowly. This makes glucose spikes less likely.
