Respect for the Aged Day (It's said to have originated when the village head of Nomatani Village in Hyogo Prefecture established 'Old People's Day' on September 15th, during the farming off-season, and held a 'Respect for the Aged Ceremony,' with the aim of respecting the elderly and borrowing their wisdom for village development. Later, due to revisions in the 'Public Holiday Act,' it became the third Monday of September.)
