Seishi Yokomizo's "The Bride of the Labyrinth"

The Kosuke Kindaichi series is a monument of Japanese mystery fiction. Among them, my favorite is "The Bride of the Labyrinth." I don't think it's very well-known. I can't go into detail, but the flow until you find out who the culprit is on the last page is truly beautiful. What's beautiful is the composition. I believe it's the composition that's beautiful, not the descriptions or the tricks. "The Bride of the Labyrinth" is the only novel I love and recommend not just for its story, but especially for its composition. Who is the culprit? Readers will vaguely, or rather, suspect early on, "It must be this person." However, it's not revealed until the very last page. Kosuke Kindaichi only appears for a very short time. The protagonist of "The Bride of the Labyrinth" is not the detective Kosuke Kindaichi. It remains one of my favorite novels to this day.

You say the composition is beautiful, it makes me want to read it like a detective! Listening to Nagi Taro's passionate story, I feel like I want to get lost in that maze too ♡

I used to borrow a lot of the Kindaichi series from the library when I was in middle or high school. It reminded me of how fun they were. I think I'll read them again 😊
