70% is luck? I'd say it's 100% luck, but that's an interesting ratio. It's awesome that you still have fun with it though.

The strong element of luck means even skilled players can sometimes win, which is fun! As you hone your skills, your defense improves and you learn to read the board, making it quite deep. Of course, just when you think 'I've gotten good!', you get unreasonably crushed in a losing streak, which is also part of Mahjong's charm 😂

When you don't draw anything until the end even though you got a good starting hand -> it feels unreasonable how much luck is involved when the game ends and there are 4 winning tiles left in the mountain because no one had them. There are times when I go all the way to South 4 round, ending up in last place with almost no calls (tsumo-giri) from start to finish, no tenpai (ready hand), and no discards that lead to a win (furikomi), and I wonder if I'm playing a different game lol
