The Folklore of Internet Ghost Stories

Mocumentary horror has been gaining traction recently. This is a book I recommend reading for basic knowledge before watching or reading such works. In the past, scary stories were told from person to person within a very limited circle. With the rapid spread of the internet in the 2000s, both ghost stories and urban legends began to spread instantly over a wide area. Kisaragi Station, Hide-and-Seek Alone, Yashakihime, Kunekune, Inunaki Village... They're still 'new' but highly recognizable, aren't they? This book is a folkloristic study and compilation of these scary stories, which have gained such transmissibility. It covers not only Japanese internet ghost stories but also English ones... English-language creepypasta Like The Backrooms, Liminal Space, Slender Man, Jeff the Killer, etc. Wouldn't it be more fun to understand the origins of games? The preface and first chapter are available on the publisher's website. Definitely give it a try ☺️ Tracing the 'folklore' of internet ghost stories, which aren't found in school textbooks -- Ryūhei Hirota's "The Folklore of Internet Ghost Stories" Preface and Table of Contents [Now on Sale] Hayakawa Books & Magazines (β) https://share.google/kDTSwNQVOcnb6IFCr
