Smartphone Farms (Click Farms)

Smartphone farms (click farms) are apparently shady operations that use programs to massively inflate SNS likes and view counts... In the past, people used to click manually, but now they've evolved and become seriously dangerous. To avoid detection by SNS platforms, they reportedly line up hundreds of actual smartphone parts and SIM cards, automatically faking the appearance of 'human interaction'. There are two main reasons why this is a problem! 1. They can instantly boost fake news view counts, manipulating public opinion with lies. 2. They steal companies' advertising fees by clicking on ads en masse (the damage amounts to trillions of yen globally per year...) In fact, it seems they've been found in Japan too, with news reports causing a huge stir about how they can increase SNS impressions to over a million in just a few minutes. Recently, AI makes it super easy to create 'human-like fake accounts', so it seems to be an endless game of cat and mouse with the SNS companies.
